Try to forget, my true sweetheart.

Sophie's Choice

This was not judgment day - only morning. Morning: excellent and fair.

In my arrogant opinion, a film, which I want to introduce you and involved you in, is clearly amazing. This post is the most spontaneous one, but the most advised too. I have just finished watching this movie and I started to write. I am from Poland, so I feel like I am quite acquainted with the topic of this motion. I wanted to say that I am close... but it would be a lie. It is hard to say something about holocaust, because No one will ever understand Auschwitz (William Styron, Sophie's Choice author). Sophie's Choice, such an incredible film...

It was really dificult to understand to me, because there are a lot of moments when some people talk in german, or in english with very specific accent. Some crucial scenes was spoken in german, so I musted check a few facts out on the Internet.

It is tough to judge how the director/the scriptwriter (Alan J. Pakula) and William Styron treated Poles on the issue of joining in Jews' extermination. So I do not want to focus on it. I am sure that I am not any suitable person to looking for any answer.

Everyone has his own way to go through.
Everyone should have a chance to know his destination.
Everyone has the right to live.

Love. How strong feeling it is. How many things it can fix. Delete. It gives us hope. Although after some occurations we cannot be the same persons. But we can fight for us. Forget. And forgive - ourselves.

Friends... They are our treasures. I have a few (not many and I am glad of it) and I hope that you have yours also. They are like an adhesive between us and our worlds, lives, simple things and activities.

It is very hard film to watch. It is very emotional. It is about a lot of dead loss. And even though we do not experience the things like those in the movie, because we live in such different times, we also have huge problems (It is not my purpose to compare, of course. It is just a draft of human dailiness). And we still can decide about our lives. This is our privilege. And this is our right. Look at the choice which Sophie is forced to make.

Everyone can love.

Five nominations, one Oscar for Meryl Streep(Sophie).

The Ugly Duckling.

Billy Elliot

Tutor: What does it feel like when you're dancing?
Billy: Don't know. Sorta feels good. Sorta stiff and that, but once I get going... then I like, forget everything. And... sorta disappear. Sorta disappear. Like I feel a change in my whole body. And I've got this fire in my body. I'm just there. Flyin' like a bird. Like electricity. Yeah, like electricity.

Dear Billy, my inspiration from my early youth... I owe the freedom of my dreams to you, really. I will never forget you.

Yep, I have just started with this little confession. To be honest, I have not watched this movie for 6-7 years, I guess. More or less. But I am willing to do it. After my exams, which are aproching inexorably... Oh, I have no strength, I have no time for anything. I want to sleep, watch some movies and just live without carying about learning, working and missing all these things which I really feel lack of.

I am obsessed with ballet, dancers, theatre and these amazing illuminations which embrace the stage. That is why I am coming back to this subject. I associate ballet utterly with freedom. Even though it is connected with really, really hard work. People who dance love it. And I love it too. But I am not any dancer.

When I was a child there were not in my life any good conditions to send me for some dancing lessons. You can think "Why? What was the problem?". But believe me, I felt exactly like Billy. But he got his chance, me - not. And I am quite jelous. I cannot say, that I regret getting that way, on which I am now, but... you know... I cannot estimate, which kind of life could be that better one.

The story like this about Billy Elliot seems quite unbelievable in the environement in which he lived. And it made the plot so fabulous. The father, the passion and Billy in between. Love wins again. And dreams. The father's guts (I am sorry if you do not like words like this) are covered up and struggled. And his son can do what he wants to. In the world like that. In that reality. You must watch it to understand. It is like middle ages' mezalians.

I have so many things to do, so sorry, that is all. I hope I encouraged you in some way to watch this film. It is really worth to watch. It helps to accept a lot of behaviours, feelings, passions and altitudes to life.

Billy: I think I'm scared, Dad.
Dad: That's okay, son. We're all scared.
Billy: Well... if I don't like it (BOXING), can I still come back?
Dad: Are you kidding? We've let out your room.
(straight face then laughter)

Seduce it! ...and attack it.

Black Swan

Perfection is not just about control. It's also about letting go.

Maybe it was quite more than one year ago (2-3?) when I was in the opera in PoznaƄ and I watched Swan Lake. Honestly, there were a few my friends who are ballerinas and they gave a really extraordinary show to the public. I have never danced as a ballet master, but I have played in a couple of performances. I was really close to THAT world. The world of ambition, beauty, grandness, brilliance and irresponsibility. And even I still want to take part in this kind of life, I think I know the bright and the dark side of it as well.

But this movie is not only about ambition, although it is such a great aspect. And it is not about illness, despite the fact it seems like to be. And it is not a thing about drugs and their bad influence. Relations and relationships. These both create this bewildering portrait of Swan Queen. Or Nina Sayers, you can choose.

Obsession. Daughter locked up by her Mother. Dependence. Choice. Birds love lakes, but when lakes get cages - they do not. Freedom - that is what we need. That is how we prosper. Any other case - oh, everyone would go crazy!

One thing has really blown my mind: the way of perceiving the world by Nina. And now I am not caring about her visions, because they are created by her imagination and this is very touchy subject. I want you to think about it of course. I think everybody can interpret it in astonishing different way. But I focused on her kind of spending her life. On her steps. I realized, that a big part of people (particularly young ones) share it with her. And they did not know about it, continually. Look at it carefully, quietly and just catch it.

Changes. In her life, inside Swan Queen, inside us. Everything depends on changes. Self-assertion is the key. Remeber, you can count on you, but you have to have someone else to rely on.

Everything she does comes from within, from some dark impulse. I guess that’s what makes her so thrilling to watch. So dangerous. Even perfect at times. But also so damned destructive.

Black Swan was nominated in 5 categories. Received 1. Darren Aronofsky (director) was not really satisfied, I guess. But I love the movie, which won in the most important categories, so it is very hard to me to judge. I know I chose a heavy film today.
But... Who know? Maybe I will share with you a film which concerns quite similar subject next time. But a simpler one, I promise.
Please, approciate my efforts. ;)

Love, Harry. Love.

Harry Potter

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

Some of you would be disappointed, but the rest will be contented (I hope). I do not want to encourage you to watch this movie's series, bacause I think everyone did. People are divided in opinion about that. But my view is that who talks about a film critically, he has watched it.

Friendship, love, intimacy, fun, breaking rules for saving the world, goodness vs. evilness. It sounds trivially, doesn't it? But it has created hundreds of millions of young and elder minds. It is often compared to The Lord of The Ring or The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I consider there are three the most memorable books and movies based on them, that show the others realities as incredibly as it is possible and as nobody else has shown.

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?

I sometimes find, and I am sure you know the feeling, that I simply have too many thoughts and memories crammed into my mind…

It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more.

It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

Oh, I really miss Dumbledore and his amazing quotes. I miss each character... When I was watching the last part of this breathtaking series, I was really moved by the plot, but the fact that that was really the end also.

Can you remind yourself Moaning Myrtle, Fawkes, Dobby, Gilderoy Lockhart, Luna Lovegood, Mr. Ollivander? Are you able to forget Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley or Harry Potter? Can you live without them? Their smiles, adventures, ups and downs? If not, let's make a club! ;) You even do not know how I am happy I can write about Harry. I spent my entire childhood on reading, watching and thinking of Harry, magic, goblins, Hogwart... I always wanted to have a wand and a cloak... I wanted to meet some magic creatures, like thestrals... but not spiders at all.

Only two parts did not be nominated. Zero Oscars. And the best music ever. The unappreciated soundtrack. Shame on Academy.

Have you heard about Deathly Hallows?

If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. J. K. Rowling

Please... look at me... informally.

If you are under the impression you have already perfected yourself, you will never rise to the heights you are no doubt capable of.

What do you do when you fall in love? I know, it is quite intimate question. But you tear off and throw away all your fetters and strings which keep you in your casual life, don't you? If you agree, or even not, The Remains of The Day (1993) is the movie for you. Everyone should watch it. Every human being needs it.

Work. Work. Love? Work. Erease unnecessary one. Then, the system will be working well. The dignity will be saved. You had better occupy your duties. Do not distract yourself. Your destination: WORK. It is your one and only challenge and desire.

Rubbish! Who would want to live like that? Who could? You will be surprised, I promise. You will be upset, astonished, confused... and maybe you will gain some knowledge about the things which have been any misteries to you to date. This is the most important issue, I think - getting out of this movie. Deriving cues.

The thread of love connects everything. It destroys the silence and the order. And it builds a new world. It creates a new reality. Do you think that in that utterly new world would be no place for a new order and a new silence? I cannot promise you that you will receive any answer. Everything depends on your sensitiveness. I believe in you. As much as I believe in love.

8 nominations. 0 awards. Starring: Emma Thompson, Anthony Hopkins. Director: James Ivory. Music by: Richard Robbins.
The music will touch your heartstrings.
